Our Mission Statement

To provide resources and advocacy that strengthens and attains the highest standards of excellence among service providers in the developmental disability system

Our Values

Collaboration

At the heart of HWPA is a commitment to constructive and respectful collaboration. By working together, Hawaii’s waiver providers can achieve more in sharing expertise, resources, and innovative solutions to address complex and unique challenges. Together we can create effective and efficient environments where our employees and clients can reach their full potential.

Advocacy

Advocacy is a keystone of HWPA, as it strengthens our collective voice and our vulnerable community. We believe in speaking up to secure and protect policies and initiatives that uplift our participants, empower organizations, and support dedicated staff. Together, we can create policies that ensure that individuals, families, and service providers have the resources and recognition they need to thrive.

Resources

HWPA prioritizes providing our members with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to effectively serve the I/DD population. By sharing best practices and practical tools from industry experts and community leaders, we empower organizations and their teams to enhance services, overcome challenges, and create opportunities that make a lasting difference.

Meet Our Administrator

I am a Pahoa High School and University of Hawaii at Hilo graduate with a colorful work history encompassing marketing, sustainable agriculture, youth mentoring, tech support, legislation, and more. Most recently, my experience within organizational development and consulting is brought to my current role as the HWPA Administrator. I am also a triple certified equine masseuse, classical violinist, temporary tattoo artist, aspiring art collector, and die-hard foodie.

I am the proud daughter of a hard-working single mother that some of you may know - Vicki Linter, who has worked in Hilo nonprofits for over 30 years. She instilled in me a deep sense of justice, compassion, enthusiasm, and joy in playing a helpful part of our beloved island community.
